EIUC has become a recognised international centre for advanced training dedicated to senior officials of international organisations, field personnel, and other human rights professionals. The objectives of the training seminars are to meet operational requirements and identify processes and means of transferring academic and institutional expertise into the public sphere.

Admissions to the two, three-day, modules (20-22 March 2017 and 23-25 March 2017) of the Training seminar for International Electoral Observers are open until 12 February 2017. Open and legitimate elections are the indispensable foundation for sustainable development and an effective democracy. Actions supporting the right to participate in genuine elections can play a major role in sustaining peace, security and conflict prevention. Support takes the form of electoral assistance projects and election observation missions. This requires skilled and trained observers. Target: The two modules are devoted to those applicants with no experience in election observation or to those observers who have participated to a maximum of two missions as short term observers. Eligibility: Lectures are conceived for an audience of graduates mainly in Law, Political Sciences, Economics, Sociology, Philosophy, Anthropology or similar who want to address international election observation from a multi-disciplinary approach that will be useful in further engagements on the field.  Training language: all courses will be held in English. It is, therefore, essential that all participants understand and speak English fluently.

The Training Programs at the United Nations are educational training experiences designed to promote the effective participation of youth in the UN’s work. Currently programs are held in UN centers in New York and Geneva. We partner with universities and educational institutions, who in turn recruit the program participants.

By the end of the week, students will:
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of how the UN works
  • Receive and introduction to current global issues that the UN addresses
  • Learn how to create a plan for a career at the UN, international organization, or a relevant field
  • Practice relevant, 21st century skills

UNITED NATIONS UNIVERSITY  The United Nations University (UNU) offers a number of non-degree courses, ranging from training programmes in fisheries and geothermal exploration in Iceland, to intensive courses on climate change and human security in Japan. Non-degree courses are offered throughout the global UNU system and attract a truly diverse student body.
Some courses allow students to earn credit towards their degree; others lead to a UNU certificate upon completion. Courses maintain a problem-oriented focus with the aim of providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead the way in addressing globally pressing problems. The problem-oriented nature and global setting of UNU’s non-degree course catalogue allows for a classroom experience that is unique to a university within the United Nations framework.
Application procedures differ by course and institute. If you are interested in a non-degree programme advertised on this website, please contact the relevant institute directly with any course-specific questions.

It allows its participants coming from all over the world to list these challenges and examine their reasons and possible solutions they can deploy.
