THE FUTURE OF RESOLVING DISPLACEMENT & POVERTY IS BY INVESTMENT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF GREEN  INFRASTRUCTURE WHICH BENEFITS OUR PLANET AND ALL OF HUMANITY

DEFINITION & CLARIFICATION

REFUGEES

Refugees are people who have fled war, violence, conflict or persecution and have crossed an international border to find safety in another country.

ECONOMIC REFUGEE

An economic refugee is a person who leaves his or her home country in search of better job prospects and higher living standards elsewhere. Economic refugees see little opportunity to escape poverty in their own countries and are willing to start over in a new country for the chance at a better life.

ASYLUM SEEKER

An asylum-seeker is someone whose request for sanctuary has yet to be processed. Every year, around one million people seek asylum. People seeking asylum could be people who are seeking sanctuary because they may have  different political views or activities and they fear for their safety, and people who may have different religious views or beliefs in a country which is not accepting or tolerant to their faith, and people of certain sexual orientation within a country that is not accepting or tolerant to their specific sexuality, and people who are artists, poets, journalist, activists or other, within a country that is not accepting or tolerant to such activities, to the degree that such a person or persons fear for their safety and life.

HOMELESSNESS

A homeless individual is an individual who lacks housing (without regard to whether the individual is a member of a family), including an individual whose primary residence during the night is a supervised public or private facility (e.g., shelters) that provides temporary living accommodations, and an individual who is a resident in transitional housing.” A homeless person is an individual without permanent housing who may live on the streets; stay in a shelter, mission, single room occupancy facilities, abandoned building or vehicle; or in any other unstable or non-permanent situation.

POVERTY

A person or persons lacking enough resources to provide the necessities of life, such as food, clean water, shelter and clothing. But in today's world, that can be extended to include access to health care, education and even transportation.

The URGC views all, equally as human suffering, which requires all of humanity to assist in helping to reduce and if possible eliminate such human suffering.

HOW ARE REFUGEES & ASYLUM SEEKERS PROCESSED WITHIN AN EU MEMBER STATE -

Using one of the smallest EU member States, the ''Republic of Cyprus'', as an example; and the reason why we choose this EU member state as an example, is because it has more refugees and asylum seekers than any other EU member state and UK, ''in relation to its ratio of its population''. It is estimated that 5% of the Republic of Cyprus (EU) population is made up of Asylum seekers, whereas other front line countries have 1% of refugees to their populations, and also because it is greatly strained in its financial resources and housing to deal with such high and increasing numbers of refugees and asylum seekers in relation to the country's population, yet this small EU country applies virtuous acts and assistance with all resources at its disposal to serve humanity.

Despite the Republic of Cyprus high numbers of refugees/asylum seekers, Cyprus does not face the turmoil that is seen in many other EU countries, Cyprus is strained in providing accommodation and requires greater support from the EU,
Due to Cyprus location, many migrants may not see Cyprus as a final destination and may try to move on to other EU countries.

What is far less experienced in Cyprus, is the unsettling issues migrants often demonstrate throughout the EU , often displayed by media and EU societies as a disruption to their cultures, relions and societies, as well as their safety, and whether that is a racial or negative connotation of what is shown by the media or expressed by the public on many EU country issues is left open to how an individual interprets what is being said or seen, however, despite greater numbers of migrants in ration of population than any other EU country and despite Republic of Cyprus limited resourses and financial sruggles and housing shortages, migrants in Cyprus have minimal displays on creating disruption  to the degree shown in the media throughout the EU, migrants in Cyprus are more settled and feel safe, and are intergrating with greater ease and those who obtain leave to remain, have become part of society and contributed to society.

Cyprus is not immune to difficulties or strains in handling migration, yet despite Cyprus being strained in support in handling such high volume of migrants and struggling to accommodate all, it clearly defies all odds and created a more peaceful transition from migrant to being part of society, Cyprus clearly has lessons to give to other EU countries in the handling of migrantsand should be better supported by the EU.
